Ever try to scale up a recipe and end up needing 1/2 of an egg? Very annoying. One large egg equals about 1 tablespoon of yolk and 2 tablespoons of white. So just beat the egg and measure out 1.5 tablespoons for 1/2 an egg.
COOKING TRIVIA - If you crack two eggs together, only one will crack!
DID YOU KNOW? The way you measure flour can make a BIG difference in the final product? If you scoop your measuring cup into the flour you'll get a lot more than if you spoon the flour into the measuring cup. To be accurate, always measure by weight.
Always put a wet paper towel under your cutting board. It will stabilize the board and keep it from moving as you cut and chop.
Substitute plain low-fat or non-fat yogurt for mayonnaise to reduce the calories and fat in a recipe.
Ever measure honey and have trouble scraping all of it out of the measuring cup?  Coat the inside of the measuring cup with cooking spray. All the honey will slip right out of the cup.
Want to get more juice out of a lemon or orange? Pop it in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Don't have a microwave? Roll the lemon or orange back and forth under your palm several times. It'll soften the fruit and make squeezing out the juice a lot easier.
DID YOU KNOW?
Standing water will dull a knife blade. Never leave a knife soaking in the sink and NEVER put knives in the dishwasher (except butter, or table, knives). Wash your knife immediately after use with hot soapy water and dry it right away to keep the blade in good shape.
